This event is designed to enable organisations or groups of individuals to raise money for their nominated charity or club. We make all the arrangements and participants arrange their own sponsorship.

Questions & Answers:

• How much does it cost to enter a team? There is no entry cost, Lions club pay the costs of running the event.
• Can I enter more than one team? Yes. Teams consist of 4-6 members and more than one team can be entered.
• Are there any age or ability limits? We welcome swimmers of all ages and abilities. Each swimmer must be capable of swimming the length of the Westgate pool (33 metres). Each team will swim in relay - stronger swimmers can do more lengths than weaker swimmers if the team wishes. The time specified for each session will be set based on the number of teams entering - minimum 40 minutes, maximum 55 minutes.
• Health & Safety? Westgate lifeguards will be on duty to ensure safety of swimmers. Teams made up of children are required to be supervised by an adult (over 18)
• How is the sponsorship arranged? We will provide sponsorship forms for use by team members to get sponsorship - sponsors can pledge a fixed donation amount or an amount per length swum (the form allows either). Only forms provided by Chichester Lions Club should be used although additional copies can be made.
  Team members bring their completed forms to the event and we will sign them to confirm the completion of the event.
  All sponsorship monies must be collected and paid to Chichester Lions Club by the end of July 2024. Donations can also be made via this website.
• How is money donated to the nominated group or charity? On receipt of sponsorship monies Chichester Lions Club will raise a cheque for 100% of the sponsorship money received in favour of the nominated charity or group. Payments cannot be made to individuals. This cheque will be returned to the group leader for presentation to the charity or group.
• What is gift aid and why is it important? If a sponsor is a UK resident taxpayer and they tick the gift aid box on the sponsorship form and provide a full name and postcode, the Lions club will be able to claim gift aid on their donation. The cost of running the event is met from this income, allowing us to pass on 100% of the donations to the nominated charity.
• I can’t get 4 people - can I still enter?  Contact us by email to lions@chilions.org.uk. If we can make up a team from individual entries we can divide the sponsorship for the team.
